Highland Mall RETRO Fanny Pack
Made with waterproof oxford fabric
This white-tiled, neon-lit, palm tree-lined retail center debuted as Austin’s first fully-enclosed shopping mall in 1971. With shifting shopping habits at the start of the 21st century, many of its sectors were left suspended, closing permanently by the mid 2010s.

Paper mache shell ready for a candy filling
Opening its rainbow doors in 2002, Jumpolin quickly became a crown jewel of Cesar Chavez Street. For over a decade, the family-owned party supply store serviced countless birthdays, graduations, and quinceañeras for the city’s working class before being shuttered following East Austin’s ever-changing landscape.

VICTORY GRILL CLASSIC TEE
Comes in Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large

HARLEM THEATER POPCORN SCENTED CANDLE
Hand-poured with notes of butter and salt
For nearly four decades, The Harlem Theater gave moviegoers not just a venue to enjoy the latest feature films, but a way to bridge the gap between young and old audiences around the city. In 1973, the theater would screen it’s final flick following a fire that burned the once-bustling structure to the ground.
HILLSIDE DRUG STORE CANVAS TOTE
Double-strapped with vintage lettering

DOLLHOUSE BARBERSHOP SHAVE SOAP
Cedarwood-scented balm in a hard metal tin
If you happened to find yourself in East Austin and in need of a bangs trim or a touch-up on your fade, Bubba Stewart is who’s chair you’d want to sit in at Dollhouse Barbershop. But at the start of a new millennium, rising rent and ebbing customer counts drove him to hang up his clippers and shut his doors for good.
